You know those people in your life…when you're with them, you feel like you can do, be, conquer anything. WHY? Because you feel free. FREE TO BE YOURSELF. Do you know who that person is? The spirit that swung from trees like a monkey as a child, built sandcastles to heaven and picked flowers for your mom…just because. The REAL SELF that craves connection, to be held, loved, accepted. The REAL YOU who has many ‘sides' – dorky, quirky, weird, dark, light, messy, klutzy, scared, passionate, animalistic.
Too often in our society, we are conditioned to think that if we're not displaying happy, cool and calm, we're bipolar, schizophrenic, crazy, depressed, loony, intimidating, demanding … which are judged by our slang ‘losing it', ‘off the deep end', ‘loony', ‘head case', ‘codependent' … In the work, medical and educational world, these are all grounds for termination, condemnation, medication.
To this I say “F*ck that”
We are ALL by design emotional creatures that feel.
Women are by design ‘bipolar' because we experience radical hormonal swings throughout our phases – happier for the first 2 weeks, a little more introverted the second 2.
Yet we force ourselves to look, act, appear ‘steady' throughout our entire life.
Masking the real selves, day in and day out…until we wake up one day:
Who am I?
Where did I go?
When did I stop being me?
Then you ask…how can I find my way back to me?
When did I last feel myself? Like I could be the REAL ME?
Who in your life do you feel as though you can BE the real you, unapologetically, unconditionally…MOST of the time you're with them? (there are always parts of us that hide)
For Mindset Monday, I want you to take a moment. Pause. Breath. Get in nature for even 10 minutes of a slow walk. A moving meditation if you will. WAIT for the answers. Be patient with yourself. Resist the temptation to DO/work and invite in BE/allow. We think it's far easier to work, than it is to wait. During your ‘walk, wonder, wait' meditation:
Ask yourself these questions?
WHO AM I?
WHEN AM I?
Drop your ego, thinking, monkey mind (in yoga we call it chitta vritti)…
Allow God to guide you.
These kinds of heart centered friends of yours, these are the ones to keep around for a long time. They are rare. As you are! Tag a friend, hug a tree, BE with God today.
